Sharing Your Views

We will be looking to work closely with the community throughout the process and using the feedback to help us develop our proposals.

We have been gathering feedback via email, and our feedback questionnaire, since January 2025. Our consultation event on 10th February 2025 at Hersham Centre for the Community received over 110 attendees who were able to meet the project team, introduce themselves and provide feedback about the site.

All initial feedback from the public has been reviewed by the project team and used to help inform the first set of designs which we are now sharing with the community to get feedback.

You can view the June 2025 material here.

We will continue to progress our proposals and work alongside the local community ahead of submitting a planning application later this year.

We have received feedback via email, our questionnaire and at the first consultation event on 10th February 2025. So far, the feedback has included:

  • Support for Berkeley as the developer of the site.

  • Enthusiasm regarding early timing of engagement and the structure of the consultation event, involving the community from the outset.

  • The importance of the ‘village feel’ and sense of community in Hersham.

  • A preference for brownfield development, not green belt development such as at the golf club proposals.

  • A recognised need for new housing in Hersham.

  • Concerns around infrastructure, particularly in relation to the GP surgery and local schools.

  • Traffic congestion is a key issue, in particular junction spacing and too much parking on local roads during school times which causes traffic queues.

  • Comments that buses are too infrequent and get stuck in traffic.

  • Hersham Rail Station is in disrepair and needs investment, with some noting it had no disabled access.

  • Concerns that the village centre is not used enough, and shops will continue to close as a result.

We will review all feedback to inform ongoing design development. Further details will be added to the website as the technical work progresses so please do continue to check the website for updates.
